Pi Day for Pizza Lovers

March 14th is Pi Day, which means it’s also the perfect time to celebrate everyone’s favorite food: the pizza pie! Our love for pizza is infinite, just like the digits of Pi, and it shows in the pies we craft. Come into My Pie Pizza on March 14th to celebrate Pi Day with us by eating a made-to-order New York-style pizza pie. Even if you’re not a huge pizza fan, our extensive menu has a robust selection that will have something for everyone, including calzones, pieninis, and salads.

Even though our favorite way to celebrate Pi Day is to consume copious amounts of pizza, we know that there’s more to it than that! March 14th can also be written as 3.14, which are the first three digits of the number Pi, an infinite mathematical concept. You probably already knew that, but how much do you really know about Pi?

What Does All That Pi Really Mean?

In mathematical terms, Pi is the numerical value of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. In pizza terms, Pi helps us to calculate the area of your pizza from its diameter.

For example, if you order an 8” pizza, we can use Pi to figure out how many square inches of pizza you’re actually getting. The formula for calculating area is πr2 — r denotes the radius of the pizza, which is half of the diameter. Because our personal pizzas have an 8” diameter, the radius is equal to 4. Therefore, the area of our custom-made New York-style pizza is π x 42, or 50.26 inches2. That means with every My Pie fast, casual pizza you order, you’re getting a whole 50.26 square inches of warm, tasty, fresh pizza. How could it get any better than that?

Join us at My Pie Pizza on March 14th to celebrate Pi Day! We’ll be chowing down on some delicious custom New York-style pizza pies and raising a toast to Pi, that magical number that lets us know how much pizza is actually in a pizza pie.
